Ozone, a 10-month-old border collie mix, is available for adoption Monday at the Erie County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 205 Ensminger Road, Town of Tonawanda.

He is a smart, active dog who needs a loving and active owner.

Adoption fees are $65 for a dog older than 5 months, $100 for puppies younger than that, plus $10 for a state license. The puppy fee also includes four puppy obedience classes and kennel cough vaccination. The adoption fee is $50 for cats and kittens. Included in the overall adoption fee for canines or felines is spaying or neutering, rabies and distemper shots, deworming and a free health checkup at an area veterinarian.

Adoption hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Other agencies with animals for adoption include:

Southtowns SPCA, 1439 Pontiac Road, Angola. The adoption fee includes neutering or spaying, shots and a free health checkup at a veterinarian of one's choice. Call 549-5300 for information.

Niagara County SPCA Rainbow Animal Shelter, 2100 Lockport Road, Wheatfield, also has cats and dogs for adoption from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

City Animal Shelter, 380 Oak St., has animals that need good homes. It's open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Adopt-A-Pet shelters throughout the area have cats and dogs available. Call 686-9046 for information.

Second Chance Sheltering Network has cats and kittens available for adoption. Call 652-6051.

HEART (Hamburg Eden Animal Rescue Team) has dogs and cats available for adoption by calling 821-1915.

Reptile Adoption, Rehabilitation and Education has a rehabilitation center at 60 Bright St., Cheektowaga, and handles adoptions for reptile pets. Call 895-0285.

Two nonprofit groups in the Buffalo area find homes for greyhounds whose racing careers have ended. Both groups visit the homes of those who apply to adopt ex-racers.
