Kathleen Fraser, author of "Translating the Unspeakable: Poetry and the Innovative Necessity," and "Il Cuore: The Heart" and "20th Century," will speak at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in 438 Clemens Hall, UB North Campus, Amherst.

Mick Cochrane will sign copies of his latest book, "Sport," from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in Waldenbooks, Main Place Mall, 90 Main St.

Waldo Emerson Martin Jr. will host two lectures and book signings Monday in Erie Community College City Campus, 121 Ellicott St. Martin is the author of "The Mind of Frederick Douglass," "Brown vs. Board of Education" and "Civi Rights in the United States." The first program will begin at 9 a.m. in the E.M. Statler dining room. The second program will be held in room 420 from 1 to 1:50 p.m.

Catherine Gildiner, author of "Too Close to the Falls," will sign copies of her book at 7 p.m Wednesday in Talking Leaves Books, 3158 Main St.
