TOWN SEES SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN CONSTRUCTION VALUE

The number of building permits issued in Town of Newstead during 2000 rose from the previous year, according to the annual report of Code Enforcement Officer Donnal D. Folger.

The town issued 157 building permits, compared to 151 in 1999, but there was a significant increase in the value.

The value of construction in 2000 was pegged at $6,287,156, compared with $4,341,163 in 1999.

Much of the construction last year was centered on two projects: a new building for Kelly Schultz Antiques and an addition to the ADESA Auto Auction facility, Folger said.

The number of building permits issued in the Village of Akron in 2000 decreased slightly from 1999.

The village issued 61 building permits in 1999 and collected $4,693 in permit fees. Sixty-three permits were issued in 1999, with $2,966 collected in fees.

Among village projects in 2000 were a new apartment building at Westgate Apartments and a new industrial building, Folger added.
