OFFICER HURT AS CRUISER IS HIT BY DRIVER ACCUSED OF DWI

A Buffalo police officer was treated in Erie County Medical Center Monday night after his patrol car was rammed by a driver who was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Officer Isaac Johnson was en route to pick up his partner to respond to a shots-fired call when the passenger side of the patrol car was struck by a southbound vehicle at Genesee and Moselle streets, according to police reports. Johnson was driving west on Genesee when the accident occurred shortly before 9:30.

Officers charged David C. Mobley, 24, of Donovan Drive, with DWI, driving with a revoked license and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Johnson had his overhead lights activated while responding to the call, police said.

Mobley was treated in ECMC and released.
