Ruth E. Andruschat, 85, of Cheektowaga, active in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a brief illness.
Born Ruth E. Weber in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph's Academy and worked as a secretary before she married Nelson "Red" Andruschat in 1939. He died in 1991.
One of the founding members of St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, she received the National Catholic Youth Award for her involvement with the St. Aloysius Catholic Youth Organization. She also was a member of the church's Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed knitting and making Easter candy.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas of East Aurora, Jack of North Tonawanda and James of Getzville; a daughter, Janis Phillips of Asheville, N.C.; a brother, Frank Weber Jr. of Gambier, Ohio; a sister, Lucille Hughes of Depew; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 157 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga, after prayers at 9:45 in Sauer-Lynett-Amigone Funeral Home, 1933 Kensington Ave., Cheektowaga. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
