West Seneca firefighters braved 18-degree weather for three hours Sunday afternoon during their Boot Drive and collected $12,070 for Children's Hospital.
After standing on street corners and soliciting loose change from passing residents, many of them were red-faced from the wind, but they warmed up to a spaghetti dinner at Vigilant Fire Company while the money was counted.
The West Seneca Fire Chiefs Association organized the six fire districts for the Boot Drive, named for the firefighters' foot gear.
