Helen Louise Brady, 78, of Orchard Park, a retired state corrections officer, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001) in Buffalo General Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Waterloo, the former Helen Myers was the daughter of a corrections officer and was a graduate of Attica High School.
She worked at Albion Correctional Facility from 1960 to 1970, then at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Ossining until she retired in 1982. She had lived with her daughter Robin Brady D'Aurizio in Orchard Park since 1986.
She enjoyed people and music. A dedicated correspondent, she was known among family and friends for her news-filled letters. She was a member of the Pat Shea International Fan Club.
Surviving, in addition to her daughter Robin, are another daughter, Penny Anderson of Orchard Park; two sisters, Betty Hartzell of Seneca Falls and Ruth Gibbs of Canandaigua; a brother, Dr. John Gibbs of Santa Barbara, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in F.E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, 6575 E. Quaker St., Orchard Park. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Canandaigua.
