Angela Mecca, 86, of the Town of Tonawanda, a homemaker, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001) in McAuley Residence, Town of Tonawanda, after a long illness.
Born Angela M. George in Buffalo, she lived here until 1969, when she moved to the Town of Tonawanda.
As a teenager, she spent summers with family members on various farms in Erie County harvesting seasonal crops.
With a deep interest in the language, she was adept at crossword puzzles and was fond of jokes and puns, often scripting her own.
She delighted in singing songs of special meaning with her sisters and brothers at family gatherings.
She and her late husband, Daniel A., were married for more than 64 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Marlene DiNatale of the Town of Tonawanda; a son, Nicholas D. of Williamsville; two sisters, Margaret Marasco and Lucy Nardozzi, both of Buffalo; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Perna Funeral Home, 1306 Hertel Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
