The United Church Home, 1190 Amherst St., needs volunteers in its wood shop to help with sanding and painting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Maplewood Health Care Center, 225 Bennett Road, Cheektowaga, would appreciate help, as little as a few hours a month. Volunteers can assist with crafts, bingo, watering plants, playing cards or transporting residents to therapy sessions. Contact the volunteer director at 681-9480.
Global Volunteers, a service program based in St. Paul, Minn., sends teams to sites worldwide. They work on projects that include teaching English, assisting with health care and constructing community buildings.
