Hooray for school vouchers. Finally, low-income people will have an opportunity to afford their children a private education. A proven, structured, quality education should not be available to only the more affluent. Many low-income and working-poor parents want desperately to offer their children a better chance at life. It is wrong to sentence these children to a public school system that has lost the confidence of the people of Buffalo.
One only has to read the paper - with report after report of failed test scores, teacher union problems and incompetent School Board leadership - to realize that an alternative is needed.
I only hope that the city's education leaders will not deprive these children of an alternative, good education of their choice.
