Margaret Patricia Guthrie, a lunch aide at Mount Carmel School for many years, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. She was 63.

Born Margaret Polewicz in Niagara Falls, she was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary's High School.

Mrs. Guthrie had been employed by several businesses, including Wendt's Dairy and Union Carbide Corp.

She loved sewing and designing her own clothes, gardening and reading.

Her children said of her, "She will always be remembered for her great appreciation of life and a loving heart."

Mrs. Guthrie is survived by her husband, James; three sons, Syd and Kevin, both of Niagara Falls, and Frank of Wheatfield; her mother, Margaret Polewicz of Niagara Falls; a brother, Frank Polewicz of Lockport; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 8:30 p.m. today in Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
