A memorial service for Joan L. Velzy, 71, a retired liquor store clerk, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, Main and Church streets. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
Mrs. Velzy died Feb. 4, 2001, in her home here after a lengthy illness.
Born in Niagara Falls, she was a graduate of LaSalle High School.
Mrs. Velzy worked as a sales clerk at Youngstown Liquor Store for 20 years before retiring in 1992. She previously worked for 10 years as a bookkeeper at Barnum's Pharmacy in Youngstown and prior to that for three years as a secretary at Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Niagara Falls.
She was a member of Youngstown Senior Citizens and a former member of the Youngstown Civic Guild.
Mrs. Velzy attended First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown.
Her husband of 52 years, Milton J., died Jan. 6.
Surviving are two daughters, Wendy Woodworth of North Redington Beach, Fla., and Jenny Banas of Wolcott; a sister, Sheila Webb of Saugerties; and two grandchildren.
