His passenger, Laura Bishop, 58, also was treated in ECMC and apparently released, officials said.

Woman injured in attempted abduction

NIAGARA FALLS -- A West Rivershore Drive woman was injured early Saturday when a truck ran over her left ankle in what police said appeared to be an attempted abduction.

The woman, 38, was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for ankle, elbow, back, tailbone and head injuries, Officer David Cudahy said.

The incident occurred at 2:15 a.m. The woman was walking to a Portage Road doughnut shop and was accosted in a parking lot at 1202 Pine Ave., Cudahy said.

The victim said a man in a green pickup truck pulled into the lot and stopped near her with the passenger door ajar, then grabbed her arm and pulled her partially into the truck.

The woman told authorities she managed to keep the passenger door open with her foot and struggled as her abductor began to drive away. She said she broke free, jumped out of the vehicle and was rolling onto the pavement as one of the truck's rear tires ran over her ankle, Cudahy said.
