Erie County Bassmasters presented its 2000 awards during its January banquet: Angler of the Year, Don Staszczyk, 117 pounds, 1 ounce; Lunker of the Year, Gary Whiting, 6 pound, 9 ounce largemouth at Pigeon Lake; Mr. Bass, Beth Campbell; Presidents Award, Blackthorn Tavern; and ECBM Classic Champion, Don Staszczyk 26 pounds, 15 ounces at Lake St. Clair.

Robert Keicher of Cheektowaga was honored as one of Safari Club International's five top recruiters for 2000. Keicher, who recruited 42 new members to the Western New York chapter in 2000, placed fourth among a field of more than 41,000 competitors and accepted his award during the recent SCI Hunters Convention held at Las Vegas.

David Laubish, banquet chairman for the Niagara Frontier Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation, was cited for his service as that chapter's president for the past four years during the NWTF 13th Annual Superfund Banquet at Michaels Banquet Facility on Feb. 3.
