Ralph F. "Bill" Dykstra of Fort Myers, Fla., a former city of Buffalo auditor, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) in Fort Myers after a short illness. He was 83.
Born in Utica, Dykstra grew up in Lancaster and served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War. Until his retirement to Fort Myers 17 years ago, he lived in Buffalo and was an auditor for the city.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10097 and American Legion Post 0274, both in Fort Myers, and was a past exalted ruler of the Lancaster Elks Lodge 1478.
Dykstra was known as a gracious party host who loved to golf, read and play tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Lola Paluci; a daughter, Suellen Smith of Strykersville, two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A local memorial service will be held at a later date.
