A memorial service for Margaret Leacy Gervase, 74, of Lilburn, Ga., a retired geriatric nurse and former Buffalo resident, will be offered at 10:30 a.m. today in Visitation Catholic Church, 1040 Lovejoy St.
Mrs. Gervase, who was born in Williamsville, died Saturday (Feb. 3, 2001) in Emory-Dunwoody Medical Center, Dunwoody, Ga., after a short illness.
She was a graduate of Williamsville High School and received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the former Sisters of Charity Nursing School under the Army Cadet Nursing Corps Program during World War II.
After becoming a registered nurse, she worked in the emergency room at Sheehan Memorial Hospital. She became a geriatric nurse in the late 1960s and worked for three nursing homes until her retirement in 1978.
After her retirement, she was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels and food pantry work. She also was a polling inspector. She belonged to several civic, fraternal and professional organizations. She moved to Georgia from Buffalo three years ago.
Survivors include her former husband, Anthony R. of Buffalo; a daughter, Sheila Gervase Cain of Sloan; two sons, Michael of Tucker, Ga., and Thomas of Appleton; a sister, L. Joan Warburton of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, William Leacy of Kenmore; and four grandchildren.
