YIELD DECLINES ON 30-YEAR BONDS

Yields on 30-year Treasury bonds fell in Thursday's auction to the lowest level in two years.

The yield was 5.460 percent, down from 5.697 percent at the last auction on Aug. 10, 2000. It was the lowest rate since 30-year bonds sold for 5.298 percent on Feb. 11, 1999.

The bonds will carry a coupon interest rate of 5 3/8 percent with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,875.30.
