FREDONIA -- Lake Shore Savings & Loan Association will be the corporate sponsor of the annual Chautauqua Home and Garden Show to be held March 17-18 in Steele Hall at Fredonia State College.
Irish dancers will perform on St. Patrick's Day, sponsored by Lorenzo Realty of Dunkirk. Corned beef and cabbage will be served.
On Sunday, Matt Fox and Shari Hiller from the cable television show "Room by Room" will perform. There will be a chicken barbecue during the show. After the show, there will be an autograph session.
Sheridan fire contract is renewed
SHERIDAN -- The Sheridan Board of Fire Commissioners and the Sheridan Town Board renewed a one-year contract Thursday for Fire District No. 1.
The $1,600 contract is retroactive to Jan. 1 and will expire Dec. 31, according to Supervisor John Walker.
About 55 members make up the volunteer department.
Seminar set for would-be notaries
OLEAN -- Notary public candidates can prepare for a special state test at a seminar at Jamestown Community College's Olean Training and Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 20.

Retirement workshop planned at JCC
OLEAN -- A retirement workshop will cover estate planning, Social Security, medicare and other issues from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays from March 13 to 27 at Jamestown Community College's Olean campus.

From origami to Internet at the library
OLEAN -- The Olean Public Library is sponsoring two free workshops next week.
