Seniors Chris Miller (Grand Island) and Mike Schweitzer (St. Joe's) of Buffalo State grabbed the top two spots in the men's one-meter diving finals Thursday night in the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships at Erie Community College's Flickinger Aquatic Center.

Miller met the NCAA qualifying standard with a score of 470.5 while Schweitzer scored 424.15.

The Bengals' Mike Wachowicz (Amherst) broke his own school record while finishing third in the men's 200 individual medley in 2:00.88. In the men's 200 free relay, the Bengals' Jamie Scott, Mark Beyer (West Seneca East), Paul Glieco (Williamsville South) and Matt Helming (Sweet Home) took third in 1:28.56.

The Buffalo State men's and women's teams both stand fifth among the nine schools competing. The meet continues at 6 p.m. today.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Chaney Barlow scored 19 points and Laurie Davis added 16 for Erie CC in a 98-55 loss to visiting Genesee CC. . . . D'Youville's Carrie Stevens had 10 points and 20 rebounds in a 65-42 loss to Houghton.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Erie CC (18-8, 6-5 in Region III) lost a 108-97 shootout to Genesee CC despite 22 points from Lawrence Maroney (Iroquois). . . . Kenneth Taylor's 23 points helped D'Youville drop Houghton, 82-61.
