Also, the agency is recruiting 250 volunteers to help with Cause for Celebration, which will be held from 10:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Buffalo Convention Center. The event includes dancing, desserts, a Las Vegas style casino, a silent auction with donated art work. Funds benefit the work of the organization.

The Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers for an Ombudsman program that provides advocacy services responsive to complaints and problems of residents living in long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen are assigned to a facility on a weekly basis to discuss problems and concerns. They must be at least 21 years old. Training is provided. The next session begins in April. Literacy Volunteers of America/Buffalo and Erie County will hold an orientation for potential volunteers at 2635 Delaware Ave. from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 22.
