Bonita J. Martin of Williamsville, a gardener who enjoyed growing miniature roses, died Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) in Millard Fillmore Hospital. She was 82.

Mrs. Martin was born in Morgantown, W.Va., and graduated from the University of West Virginia before moving to Buffalo in 1948 with her husband and young family.

Gardening was her major interest. She was past president of the Smallwood Garden Club; a board member of the 8th District Federated Garden Club of New York State; a life member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs; and a member of the Western New York Rose Society, in which she held several offices.

She also was past president of the Parent-Teacher Association at Windermere Elementary School and Amherst Central High School.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Western New York Doll Club and past president of the Mothers Club of Central Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn L.; two daughters, Christy Ann Torrillo and Jill L. Riddoch, both of Amherst; a son, Glenn L. II of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Central Park United Methodist Church, 216 Beard Ave.
