Nervan Allen, 85, a retired Stransky's Hardware Store cashier and an active churchwoman, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) in Mohawk Manor Nursing Home, Cheektowaga, where she had lived for two years.
Born Nervan Wilkes in Winston-Salem, N.C., she came to Buffalo in 1943. She worked for 32 years at Stransky's on Broadway.
Active in Peace Baptist Church, she served as treasurer, a trustee and a missionary.
Her husband, William, died in 1973.
Surviving are an adopted son, the Rev. Augustus Smith of Buffalo, and three adopted daughters, Eloise Smith and Diane Lynch, both of Buffalo, and Betty Hampton of Washington, D.C.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Peace Baptist Church, 145 Stanton St. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
