Loyal television viewers know David Boreanaz as the hunky young star of the supernatural drama, "Angel." Beginning today, movie audiences will meet the 29-year-old Ithaca College graduate when he stars with Marley Shelton, Jessica Capshaw, Katherine Heigl and Denise Richards in the new suspense thriller, "Valentine."
The story follows four young women - best friends since junior high school - who receive threatening Valentine's Day cards from a killer who promises revenge for a practical joke they pulled 10 years earlier.
Buffalo-born Boreanaz, the son of former Channel 7 personality Dave Thomas, said he was initially not interested in the part, but was convinced to come on board by director Jamie Blanks ("Urban Legend").
"He really brought something to the table," the actor said. "He said, "This is something more than just a slasher film. It's young adults trying to find themselves in San Francisco and exploring their interests, evolving into this sexy ride.' "
Boreanaz made his TV debut as Kelly Bundy's biker boyfriend on "Married With Children." He first gained fame in 1997 on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," and has since earned a reputation as one of prime-time's most eligible vampires.
