Josephine Martin, 90, of Edenton, N.C., who at one time operated a restaurant in Buffalo, died Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2001) in Chowan Hospital, Edenton, after a brief illness.
She and her late husband, Louis, ran Martin's Restaurant at 322 W. Ferry St. from 1941 to 1959, when they both retired. Before 1941, they ran Louis' Restaurant on Virginia Street.
During World War II, Mrs. Martin also worked at Curtiss-Wright Corp. After retiring from the restaurant business, she worked for Mr. Donut in Williamsville.
She enjoyed following her grandchildren's activities in school and sports and loved to cook.
Survivors include a son, John L. of Edenton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 9 p.m. Sunday in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery.
