A new marketing tool that emphasizes the economic strengths and quality of life in Cattaraugus County is being distributed.
The color brochure, titled "Economic Resources Profile," will be used to interest potential businesses relocating, new businesses and those expanding into the county, said Thomas Livak, director of the county's Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism.
Deborah Maroney, development specialist with the department, designed and laid out the brochure. She said the profile will be "sent out worldwide to entice businesses and industries to set up operations in the county."
Help with distribution will be provided by others also working to revitalize business in Western New York, including Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency, Southern Tier West Regional Planning Board and the Empire State Development Corp.
The brochure complements the county's Web site, which offers an index of available industrial and commercial buildings and sites in the county available for development.
For example, a call center recently expressed interest in locating in the county. The brochure would be sent to these types of businesses, along with information on financing, sites, building information, the county's travel guide and other information.
Larger businesses that sponsored development of the brochure include St. Bonaventure University, Alcas Corp. in Olean, Cattaraugus County Bank, Holiday Valley Resort, New York State Electric & Gas, Olean Medical Group, Tri-County Hospital in Gowanda, Bush Industries, Cooper Power Systems of Olean, Dresser-Rand, First Tier Bank, Luminite Products Corp. and Lyons Sawmill and Logging Equipment.
