I was absolutely disturbed by the story of the Lancaster police and the officers' handling of the situation of two loose dogs. To what extent did the dogs come across as a problem that couldn't be handled differently?
I live in West Seneca. Last summer, we had a loose bear roaming around town. No shots were fired at the bear, however, a professional was on hand with tranquilizers. What's more dangerous - two supposedly threatening dogs or a cop firing his weapon in town?
