Jennie S. Certo, 98, formerly of 18th Street, died Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2000) in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Palermo, Sicily, she came to Niagara Falls as a child with her family.
She attended local schools and during the 1930s and 1940s worked as a seamstress and presser for Figler's Cleaners of Grand Island. She made several gowns for her granddaughters for special occasions.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and the Gray Ladies of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, a volunteer group.
Her husband, Nicola, died in 1976.
Surviving are a son, Samuel; two daughters, Anna Bridge of Oil City, Pa., and Sarah Tomasini of Sun City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 339 22nd St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
