Velma V. Bruns, 94, who lived in the Tonawandas for 61 years, died Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2000) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness.

An Indiana native, the former Velma Baker was married to Hans Bruns, who died in 1995.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, the Lutheran Missionary League and the Salvation Army.

Survivors include a son, William H., and a daughter, Virginia Gutierrez, both of North Tonawanda, and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday in John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 William St., City of Tonawanda, with burial in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
