A private memorial service for Dr. Raymond L. Moreland, 72, a former emergency room physician at Mercy Hospital who had a private practice specializing in nutritional medicine in East Aurora, is planned for December.
Moreland, who was born Raymond Leroy Motiska in Pittston, Pa., died Sept. 13, 2000, in the Hospice in Delray Beach, Fla., after a long illness.
He was raised near Cleveland and served in the Army as program manager for the Army's classical radio station in Japan after World War II. He attended Western Reserve University and received his medical degree from the University of Buffalo.
Moreland retired to Florida in 1986. He was a lifelong lover of classical music and musical theater and an amateur violinist and poet.
Survivors include his former wife, Jeanne of East Aurora, five children, a sister, two brothers and 12 grandchildren.
