Joseph Mahiques of Arcade, who worked as a tool-and-die maker until his late 70s, died Monday (Sept. 25, 2000) in Pines Healthcare Center, Machias. He was 92.

Born in Spain, Mahiques married Myrtle E. Kester in Ebenezer in 1935. She died in 1987.

Mahiques worked for companies including Motorola and American Precision Industries. His last employer was Diamond Saw Co. in Chaffee, from which he retired at age 77.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Meyers of Olean and Bonnie of Java Center; three sons, Raymond of Delevan, Earl of Holland and Lawrence of Freedom; two sisters, Mary Varella of West Seneca and Laura Torrico of Buffalo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 W. Main St. Burial will be in Sandusky Cemetery.
