Dewey Boone died Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) in Mount View Health Facility, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. He was 85.

Born in Richmond, Va., Boone moved to Niagara Falls in 1945 and had been a resident of Lockport since 1988.

A welder, he worked on Navy ships in Norfolk, Va., during World War II and was a welder locally. He also worked as a barber and jewelry repairman. He enjoyed gardening.

Boone attended St. Mary of the Cataract Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in Sacred Heart Church. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
