I watched the Hillary Clinton-Rick Lazio debate, followed the post-debate analyses and read The News. I was disturbed during the debate when Lazio demanded that Clinton sign an agreement that he produced from his pocket. He insisted she should sign it "right now."
I was disturbed because he was allowing her no opportunity to read it. Amazing! Since then I've been disappointed that no "analysis" of the debate has recognized this aspect of Lazio's action as the sneaky, sophomoric and absurd device that it was.
I agree with Clinton. Lazio is orbiting some other planet. Surely we want as our senator someone in touch with what is reasonable and realistic; someone we can take seriously.
