Ronald A. Bowen, 73, of Williamsville, former president of Bowen Contracting Co., died Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness.
Born in Brantford, Ont., he was a graduate of the Academy of Radio and Broadcasting Arts in Toronto and worked as an announcer at radio stations in Toronto and Brantford.
Moving to Fort Erie, Ont., he took a job with Mackworth Brothers, a commercial and residential flooring contractor, then founded his own floor contracting firm, which became the second largest in the area.
He retired from his company in 1990 and worked in recent years as a consultant and contract estimator for Custom Carpet Centers and other firms.
A resident of Williamsville since 1968, he was a past member of the Buffalo Executives Club and was active in the Amherst Youth Hockey Association. He also enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife, the former Nancy Summerville; a daughter, Lynn Bowen Harris of North Easton, Mass.; a son, Ronald II of Charlotte, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, 5541 Main St., Williamsville. Burial will be private.
