MYRTLE I. GROSS, OWNED NURSING HOME

Myrtle I. Gross, owner of a Wyoming County nursing home, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) in her Cato home after an extended illness. She was 87.

Born in Big Run, Pa., Mrs. Gross was a longtime resident of the Gainesville area and owned and operated Viewpoint Nursing Home in Castile from 1950 to 1970.

For the past six years, Mrs. Gross has lived with her daughter, Glenda Cartwright, in Cato.

She was a member of Gainesville Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.

Her husband, Richard S., died in 1982.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by three sons, David of Canandaigua, Richard of Lockport and Brian of Castile; a brother, Wilfred Yohe of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Ceil Henneman of Niagara Falls and Bessie McCutcheon of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gainesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
