Mildred V. Webster, a former switchboard operator and retired security guard, died Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2000) in Erie County Medical Center. She was 79.
The former Mildred Seal was born in Kiester, Minn. She was a graduate of North Tonawanda High School.
She worked in the Buffalo area as a switchboard operator at the J.C. Penny Store in the Thruway Plaza and then was an operator for Calspan, later becoming a security guard there. She retired from Calspan in 1983.
Mrs. Webster was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star, a mother's club and was a volunteer for Lockport Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
Her husband, the late Oliver L., died in 1971.
Mrs. Webster is survived by two sons, Eric of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Gary J.; two daughters, Kristina Pierce of Lewiston and Cynthia Fogle; a sister, Lilly Nelson of Buffalo; a brother, Kenneth Seal; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Church St. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
