Michael Williams, 54, a Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems employee, died Saturday (Sept. 16, 2000) in Buffalo General Hospital after a two-month battle with cancer.
Born in Buffalo, he attended Schools 31 and 41 and was a graduate of East High School. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
He worked for Delphi, formerly the Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp., for 28 years.
Known to many as "Peabody," he had a passion for cars and spent many hours repairing and detailing them. He also enjoyed music, especially jazz and Motown oldies.
He was a member of Old Friendship Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Joana Few Williams; three sons, Marcus, Christopher and Michael; two daughters, Michelle Williams-McKinney of Oakland, Calif., and Tennille; three brothers, John-Todd of Atlanta, Dewitt Jr. and Eddie C.; five sisters, Karen Bolling of Stone Mountain, Ga., Linda of Alameda, Calif., Susan of Macon, Ga., Sandra Lillard and Kathleen Tyler; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Faith Good Shepherd Church, 1237 Hertel Ave.
