HELEN M. WALSH, CHURCHWOMAN, VOLUNTEER

Helen M. Walsh, 70, of Amherst, an active churchwoman and volunteer, died Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2000) in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a long illness.

Born Helen McMahon in Brooklyn, Mrs. Walsh served as a Eucharistic minister for St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Amherst. She also was a member of St. Gregory's senior citizens club and various bridge clubs, and a volunteer for WNED-TV.

Married to William Walsh, who died in 1997, Mrs. Walsh worked as a clerk for Rite Aid in Amherst for 12 years, until 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Noreen of Plainfield, N.J., and Elizabeth Rambuss of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a son, William P. Jr. of Williamsville; a brother, William McMahon of Rockaway; a sister, Maureen Fitzell of Miami; and two grandchildren.

Prayers will be said at 8:45 a.m. Friday in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Gregory the Great Church, 100 St. Gregory Court at Maple Road, Amherst.
