Charles M. Varacich, 61, who had been working as a security guard for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., Niagara Falls, died Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2000) after being stricken at his home.
Born in Niagara Falls, he attended Stella Niagara, Lewiston, and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
Varacich served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1971.
He had been working for Du Pont since 1986. Before that, he was a security guard for Great Lakes Carbon, Niagara Falls, for 15 years. From 1963 to 1970, he worked at the Nike base as a senior computer operator.
Varacich enjoyed gardening, artwork, photography and making toys and crafts for his grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, the former Barbara Ann Tracy; a son, Christopher of Youngstown; a sister, Amelia Cole of Ottawa, Ont.; and his grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church, 1120 Niagara St., Niagara Falls, after prayers at 8:45 in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
