The University at Buffalo women's basketball team has announced its 2000-01 schedule, highlighted by five games against participants in last year's NCAA Tournament.

The Bulls open the season Nov. 17, hosting Sweet 16 participant North Carolina. The Tar Heels return four starters from a team that finished 18th in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll. The other NCAA tournament teams on the schedule are Boston College, Kent State (twice) and Youngstown State.

After hosting the Tar Heels, Buffalo faces local competition from Niagara and Canisius and also hosts Albany and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

A Dec. 6 date at Youngstown State is followed by a home contest against St. Bonaventure before the Bulls take to the road against three Big East opponents, St. John's, Seton Hall and Boston College. The Bulls close out the non-conference schedule with a Dec. 30 home game against Navy that will be played at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center.

The Mid-American Conference schedule begins on Jan. 3 when Buffalo plays at Miami. The Bulls play the five other members of the MAC's East Division, Akron, Bowling Green, Kent State, Marshall and Ohio U., both home and away.

Cross-division games are scheduled at Eastern Michigan and at Toledo and at Alumni Arena against Ball State, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. The Bulls do not play Central Michigan during the 2000-01 regular season.

The Bulls are coming off an 18-11 season in 1999-2000 when they finished tied for fourth place in the MAC's East Division. They return four of five starters from a year ago, including 1999-2000 WBCA Kodak District 4 All-American Tiffany Bell. Schedule on Page C7.
