A 14-year-old girl faces an attempted-murder charge accusing her of trying to kill her father by poisoning his pancakes.
Police said the teenager, a student at the Charter School of Wilmington, told a school counselor Friday about her plans to poison her father's breakfast.
The counselor alerted the teen's father, but the 47-year-old man didn't heed the warning and ate the pancakes Saturday, said police Cpl. Steve Martelli.
"He noticed they tasted odd and started feeling sick," Martelli said.
The suspect's older sister drove her father to Christiana Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. Hospital staff notified police.
The girl has been committed to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, police said. She will be arrested when she is released, Martelli said.
