The Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League will open their 2000-2001 season Dec. 30 on the road at the newly-located Washington franchise. The 14-game regular season schedule is part of the NLL's composite schedule released on Tuesday.

Buffalo's home opener is Jan. 6 against the league's newest team, the Columbus Landsharks, at HSBC Arena.

Two teams have relocated this year. Syracuse has moved to Ottawa while Pittsburgh will play in Washington. Buffalo will play each team home-and-away except for New York and Toronto. New York will not visit Buffalo and Buffalo will not travel to Toronto.

Buffalo's schedule features 10 Saturday and four Friday night games. The league schedule was released at a news conference in New York City, and was made in conjunction with the announcement that Jim Jennings has been named the new Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League.

Jennings has signed a three-year agreement to serve as the second Commissioner in the league's history. Jennings will replace John Livsey, who has stepped down to head the Landsharks.

"My administration will have three objectives: increase league revenues, promote franchise expansion and establish recognition of the NLL as the fifth major league sports league in North America," he said. "We will maximize all avenues for league revenues including sponsorships, Internet, merchandising, television and radio."

Jennings brings a wide variety of sports marketing success to the NLL. At the age of 23, Jennings was appointed Director of Marketing for the New York Cosmos. Under Jennings' leadership, the Cosmos' average attendance at Giants Stadium was over 50,000.

Jennings went on to establish the largest valet parking company in the nation, Valet Park International, a company that provided valet parking services to night clubs, casinos and hotels with annual gross revenues of $25 million.
