A teenager has been indicted on charges of setting a fire that killed 21 horses at a Brooklyn stable.
Frank Esposito, 17, was charged with arson, cruelty to animals and other offenses. He was freed on $75,000 bail.
Police said that while smoking marijuana at Bergen Beach Stables on June 10, Esposito deliberately ignited a clump of hay and watched it burn for his amusement. He allegedly left the hay burning inside the barn, which was quickly engulfed by flames.
If convicted of the most serious charge, arson, Esposito could be given up to 15 years in prison.
