LIBRARIES OFFER STUDENTS ELECTRONIC TOOLS

The Hamburg, Lake Shore and Blasdell libraries have new electronic tools for students of all ages.

The Biography Resource Center has biographical information on more than than 185,000 people throughout history and across all subject areas. The Student Resource Center offers primary documents, biographies, critical essays and more for student research.

These databases are available to all at the libraries and from home with a valid Buffalo and Erie County Library card number at www.buffalolib.org.

Mitchell Repairnet, available at the Hamburg Library, 102 Buffalo St., is a different type of database. Mitchell offers technical repair information for automobiles from 1983 to the present. It also includes technical service bulletins, recall notices and wiring diagrams.

Hamburg Youth Foundation offers grants

The Hamburg Youth Foundation has $6,000 available from this year's Hamburg 24-hour Relay Challenge to be awarded to various local groups involving youth.

Mini-grants of up to $500 are available to youth organizations, or groups that work with youth in the Town of Hamburg, according to Tamara R. Franz, foundation director.

Priority will be given to programs, projects and activities that involve youth in meaningful volunteer service and promote drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention and a healthy lifestyle.

The deadline for filing applications is Oct. 6. The awards will be distributed in late October. Applications are available by contacting the Hamburg Youth Bureau at Hamburg Town Hall, 649-6111.
