Deidra Lane, already charged with murder in the death of her NFL running back husband, has been arrested on bank larceny charges.
She had been free on bail and is now being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail as a federal prisoner, Sheriff Jim Pendergraph said Saturday.
The FBI office in Charlotte had no comment. Deidra Lane's lawyer, Henderson Hill, could not be reached at his home or office.
Pendergraph said the woman was arrested Friday and taken for a hearing before a federal magistrate.
The 25-year-old woman posted bail of $100,000 in late August. Her lawyer said she needed to care for her children.
Deidra Lane has had previous legal brushes with banks. In 1998, the then-Deidra Gary was charged with writing a bad check in Guilford County. She paid an $80 fine and restitution of $77.
In July 1995, she was arrested and charged with attempted robbery after a woman walked up to a teller at the S.C. State Credit Union in Richland County and said, "I have a gun. Give me all your money."
Police said the woman left without any cash. She was arrested at her home about three miles from the credit union. Because she had no previous criminal history, prosecutors allowed her to complete a diversion program and did not prosecute her.
A hearing was scheduled for Monday, with the prosecution seeking to have Deidra Lane face the death penalty if convicted in her husband's death.
