Nora J. Wiggle, who gave up being a professional teacher years ago but continued to instruct in different forums, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2000) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 95.
Born Nora Holmes near Ypsilanti, Mich., she attended a one-room school in the early grades. She was a graduate of Ypsilanti High School and the Normal College in Ypsilanti. She taught for a number of years in Canton Township near Ypsilanti.
She and her husband moved to Buffalo in the late 1920s, and until she was in her 70s she remained active with the Home Bureau and often gave cooking and baking demonstrations. Even in her 90s, she aided recently arrived Chinese neighbors by helping teach English to their daughter.
She enjoyed gardening, reading history books and conversations on politics and young people.
Her husband, Charles P., died in 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn E. Wiggle of Buffalo and Philip L. Wiggle of Amherst, and a grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 81 Burke Drive. Burial will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Ann Arbor, Mich.
