A 36-year-old man treating himself for severe headaches by spending time in a hyperbaric chamber died during a session Monday, Niagara Regional Police said.

The Pelham resident, whose name wasn't disclosed, had been treating himself for the past year in the device, commonly known as a decompression chamber, police said.

He was in the chamber for about 25 minutes Monday when he apparently lost consciousness.

Paramedics were unable to revive him.
