Joseph R. Tubinis, 92, who owned the former Joe Tubin's Tavern on 22nd Street during the 1940s, died Monday (Jan. 31, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
Born in Niagara Falls, he was educated at Holy Trinity School and Niagara Falls High School.
After selling the tavern in 1950, he was a vending machine operator for 35 years. He was a member of the Echo Society, the Red Jacket Game Club in Medina, the Paradise Fishing Club and the East Side Businessmen's Club.
His wife, Julia V. Swiderski Tubinis, died in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Gerald R. of Youngstown; a brother, Stanley of Sanborn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Cemetery Chapel, Lewiston. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
