Bertha Hyla, 90, of Homestead, Fla., a Buffalo native, died Sunday (Jan. 30, 2000) in Grand Court South, an assisted-living center in Homestead, after a brief illness.
Born Bertha Siemieniecki, she was a homemaker. She was married to Stanley Hyla, a mail-room employee at The Buffalo Evening News, in 1928. He died in 1949. A longtime resident of the city's East Side, she moved to Florida in 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita Martin of Naples, Fla., and Claudia Steadman of Homestead, and a sister, Helen Schwartz of Dayton, Ohio.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, North Lauderdale, Fla.
