The Jan. 22 article concerning the restoration of the Catholic Latin Mass in the United States was of great personal joy to me. For more than 20 years, I and others have devoted enormous time, commitment and effort to restore the Latin Mass in this area.
With profound gratitude to Bishop Edward Head and Bishop Henry Mansell, two churches are designated to offer weekly Latin Masses -- St. Paul's in Kenmore at 6:15 p.m. on Saturdays and St. Anthony of Padua in Buffalo at 9 a.m. on Sundays. Both Masses are rich in liturgical music.
For those who have never attended or have forgotten the liturgy of the traditional Mass, which was the only Mass celebrated throughout much of the world prior to the Second Vatican Council, all are warmly welcomed. The traditional Mass is a totally different experience than those Masses offered entirely in English. Thanks to our bishops, we have a choice in selecting the liturgy that best suits our spiritual needs.
