Yvonne Hargrave, in her 31st year as an employee of the Buffalo Public School District, has been named by the Board of Education as interim associate superintendent for instruction.
The appointment came in an unanimous vote of the Board Wednesday evening.
Hargrave had been the district's assistant superintendent for Student Services, School Operations, and School Leadership. By assuming the top instructional post, she fills a vacancy created by the recent appointment of the previous associate superintendent for instruction, Marion Canedo, as interim superintendent.
Hargrave began her career as a French teacher at Fillmore Middle School. She will remain in the post until a new superintendent is named. The board is currently conducting a search to replace Dr. James Harris, who left the superintendency Jan. 9.
